Dear GREEN Charter Schools  Stakeholders,

We are excited to share with you the nominees for GREEN Charter Schools’ Board of Directors who will occupy seats at GREEN Charter School Simpsonville, GREEN Charter Elementary School, GREEN Upstate High School, and GREEN Charter School Simpsonville All nominees have met each qualification required to run for this seat on our Board of Directors.

Per GREEN Charter School By-Laws, “All employees of the school and all parents or legal guardians of students enrolled in the school are eligible to vote in an election. The right to vote shall be based upon a person’s status as a parent or guardian of a School student and/or an employee of the School. Parents or guardians are entitled to one vote for each student enrolled, with the vote being exercised for elections at the campus where the student is enrolled. In the case of multiple parents or guardians of a student, the right to vote may be exercised by only one parent or guardian. An employee is entitled to one vote at the campus where he or she works. If a person is both a parent and employee, he or she gets one vote as an employee and one vote for each child.”

Voting will open at 7:00am on December 2nd and close at 7:00pm on December 6th. All voting will be completed electronically via a unique link provided by Election Runner. This link will be emailed to each staff member and to each parent or guardian who is listed as the primary contact person for their child in PowerSchool on December 4th.

Following the close of the ballots, all reports of irregularities, fraud, or concerns must be addressed by 7:00pm on December 8th with the election committee by reaching out to Tracy Kramer, tkramer@scgreencharter.org

The Election Committee will tally all votes from the election and announce the results on Thursday, December 12th.

Newly elected candidates will be sworn in during the January 9th Board meeting.

Joshua Albin

I was in the education field for 17 years. I was a previous elementary teacher, a highly qualified middle school mathematics teacher, and an assistant principal. I have a bachelors and masters degree and now have started my own tutoring business. I also served on a PTA as vice president at the middle school level. My diverse experience will allow me to help in various ways.

My family and I have lived in Simpsonville for 17 years. I have one child that currently goes to GREEN Simpsonville and next year, all three of my children will be here.

Nicholas Perkins

My experience as an Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer demonstrates my ability to collaborate across departments and manage large-scale projects with a focus on data analytics and strategic outcomes. I have led initiatives aimed at integrating technology solutions to enhance healthcare delivery, and my role as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine emphasizes my commitment to education, mentoring, and curriculum development.

As a parent of children attending GREEN Charter Schools, I am deeply invested in ensuring that the school continues to offer an exceptional environment for learning and growth.

Jordan Surrett

I own and lead Green Arc Properties in the Upstate, overseeing a team that handles over $25 million in transactions annually. My focus is on strategic growth, marketing, client experience, and team management. Additionally, I successfully developed a hair salon in Greenville. My experience in leadership, business management, and growth strategies will allow me to contribute effectively to the school board and the community.

My connection to GREEN Charter Schools is personal, as my daughter is in kindergarten and my son will hopefully attend in two years.

Stephanie Gottler

I currently serve on the GREEN Charter Schools Board of Directors and finance committee. I have a business background and I completed the board training with the state. I have my B.B.A. degree in Accounting from Siena College in upstate NY and 15 years of accounting experience. I spent the first 9 years of my career in various accounting roles with large publicly traded organizations where I gained valuable experience including financial planning and analysis, financial reporting and compliance, and cost accounting.

GREEN is near and dear to my heart. My husband and I have three children, all of whom have been students with GREEN and have excelled academically. This is our 10th year as parents with GREEN.

Mandy Townes

I am very proud to be a GREEN board member, a GREEN parent and I want to continue the work on the board that was started when I was elected in 2021. I have bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina. I spent 13 years working in law before going back to school to begin a career as an occupational therapy practitioner.

I am a lifelong SC resident, and have been a GREEN parent since the school opened in 2013; my oldest graduated from GREEN in 2022 and I have a 10th grader at GUHS. I have been a member of the PVO and I regularly volunteer and assist with events at the school. GREEN has changed dramatically since 2013 and I am proud to have been part of that change.

Laurel Wiles

I am Laurel Wiles, and I am running to represent the Spartanburg school community on the GREEN Charter School Board. After spending 30 years as a special education teacher, I know first hand how much students benefit when their community comes together to support their education. Having had the pleasure of teaching grades K5 - 12, I know each grade has its unique set of requirements for nurturing and educating students, and I will work to make sure all GREEN Charter students are set up for success.

As a parent, I know it takes a village to raise happy and curious children who thrive in the classroom. Our village is the GREEN Charter community and I want it to be successful just like you want your child(ren) to be successful.

• Thursday, September 26th, 2024: Letter sent to stakeholders requesting nominations
• Friday, October 18th, 2024: Nominations will no longer be accepted after 5:00pm
• Individuals interested in running for election are required to attend a pre-election workshop, which will be scheduled after nominations are received.
• Monday, November 4th 2024: Ballot and nominee bio information published on school websites
• Monday, December 2nd, 2024: Polls open for voting at 7:00am
• Friday, December 6th, 2024: Polls close for voting at 7:00pm
• Sunday, December 8th, 2024: All reports of irregularities, fraud, or concerns must be addressed by 7:00pm.
• Thursday, December 12th, 2024: Election committee will tally all votes from the election during. public meeting and will announce the results.
• Thursday, January 9th, 2024: Newly elected candidates are sworn in during the January board meeting.
