GREEN Board of Directors Election

Dear GREEN Charter Schools  Stakeholders,

We are excited to share with you the nominees for GREEN Charter Schools’ Board of Directors who will occupy the seat at GREEN Charter School Lowcountry and GREEN Charter Midlands. The nominees have met each qualification required to run for this seat on our Board of Directors.

Per GREEN Charter School By-Laws, “All employees of the School and all parents or legal guardians of students enrolled in the School are eligible to vote in an election. The right to vote shall be based upon a person’s status as a parent/legal guardian of a student and/or as an employee of the School. Parents or legal guardians are entitled to one vote for each student enrolled, with the vote being exercised for elections at the campus where the student is enrolled. In the case of multiple parents or guardians of a student, the right to vote may be exercised by only one parent or guardian. An employee is entitled to one vote at the campus where they work. If a person is both a parent and employee, he or she gets one vote as an employee and one vote for each child.”

Voting will open at 7:00am on December 1st and close at 7:00pm on December 5th. All voting will be completed electronically via a unique link provided by Election Runner. This link will be emailed to each staff member and to each parent or guardian who is listed as the primary contact person for their child in PowerSchool at the campuses where seats are up for election on December 1st.

Following the close of the ballots, all reports of irregularities, fraud, or concerns must be addressed by 7:00pm on December 8th with the Election Committee by reaching out to Joshua Albin, joshua.albin@scgreencharter.org.

The Election Committee will tally all votes from the election and announce the results at the January Board meeting on Thursday, January 8, 2026 and the newly elected candidates will be sworn in during that meeting.


GREEN Charter School Lowcountry Nominees

Angela Decker

I have spent several years working with students, teachers and staff while employed as an aide for the Special Education Department at a middle school. I have also volunteered with the Epilepsy Foundation, Special Olympics and Women’s Auxiliary. I studied Business Administration at Waldon University. I currently work for the State helping families and am a member of the Support Team at Central Berkeley Fire & EMS.

My husband and I are raising our granddaughter, and we have been a GREEN family since the first year the Lowcountry campus opened. I would love the opportunity to be a voice for the Lowcountry campus within the GREEN community as we all strive to uplift and educate our students/children for successful future.


Katherine Harris

I am a mom and a former educator. I currently serve as a chairwoman on GREEN Lowcountry’s parent board. I studied Early Childhood Education and started my career in that field and have been a teacher and a childcare director. I am currently in the business field and would love to utilize my leadership skills to further improve community ties with GREEN schools. I want to bring the community involvement to our schools, allowing different opportunities for students.

I want to make sure all children and parents are aware of the amazing educational opportunities that are available to them at GREEN. I believe that the foundation for a successful adult life is centered in the educational development and community influences a child experiences.

GREEN Charter Midlands Nominee

Nakisha Smith

I am honored to be considered for a role on the GREEN Charter School Board. I hold a B.S. in Child and Family Welfare, along with dual master’s degrees in Educational Organization and Educational Psychology. My background equips me with both the academic knowledge and practical understanding needed to support students, families, and educators.

Having been an active parent at GREEN Charter since my oldest child began Kindergarten (now in 6th grade), I’ve witnessed the growth of our school community, and I want to give back by helping shape its future direction. As both a parent and a professional in the field of education, I am deeply invested in the mission and success of GREEN Charter Schools. My goal in serving on the school board is to bring a balanced perspective that represents both parents and educators, ensuring that every decision made is in the best interest of students and families.

Key Dates

  • Wednesday, September 24, 2025: Letter sent to stakeholders requesting nominations
  • Friday, October 10th, 2025: nominations will no longer be accepted after 5:00pm
  • Individuals interested in running for election are required to attend a pre-election workshop, which will be scheduled after nominations are received.
  • Tuesday, November 4th, 2025: Ballot and nominee bio information published on school websites.
  • Monday, December 1st, 2025: Polls open for voting at 7:00am
  • Friday, December 5th, 2025: Polls close for voting at 7:00pm
  • Sunday, December 7th, 2025: All reports of irregularities, fraud, or concerns must be addressed by 7:00pm
  • Thursday, January 8th, 2026: Election committee will tally all votes from the election during a public meeting and will announce the results
  • Thursday, January 8th, 2026: Newly elected candidates are sworn in in the January board meeting
