GREEN School Team

Malana FitzgeraldMalana Fitzgerald - Principal
I have loved being a part of GREEN since it opened its doors in 2013. The growth of our school has been amazing to watch each year. Before relocating to Greenville, I spent 8 years teaching 5th grade Math, serving as a district Math Coach, and math interventionist in Raleigh, NC. At GREEN I taught 4-6th grade Math as well as Pre-Algebra and served as Assistant Principal. When I'm not at school, I stay busy being a mom and wife. I have a daughter Decklyn, in 2nd grade at GREEN and a son, Tanner who is 4 years old. Along with my husband, we enjoy trying new restaurants and attending events around town. I believe that positive relationships are the key to learning. I look forward to another great year creating these relationships.

My name is Katelin Spagnolo and I am so excited to be back here at GREEN Charter School! This will be my fourth year at GREEN Charter School. My first year here, I taught 1-6 Physical Education and helped coach boys middle school soccer. In 2018, I took on an administration role as the Lower School Assistant Director. I am originally from Florida. I attended the University of North Florida where I got my Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education K-12 and played Division I soccer. I continued my education at the University of North Florida and got my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership for School Leadership and became certified in three different states.

In 2012, Mr. Adem hired me at River City Science Academy where I taught two years of middle school Physical Education and Health. While I began my teaching career in Florida, in 2014 I moved to Georgia where I taught three years of middle school Physical Education and Health. In July 2017, my husband and I relocated to Greenville, South Carolina, to be closer to family. After residing in Greenville for over three years now, I can truly say that I love it! In my spare time I love visiting with family and friends, traveling the world and playing sports! This upcoming school year my husband and I will be expecting our first baby. I am grateful for the GREEN Charter school family. I am looking forward to working with your children and having a successful school year!

John Ozer - Upper Campus DirectorI am happy to join the GREEN Charter School. In the upcoming year, I will be serving as an upper school director. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. I have been involved in education for the past 21 years: eleven years as a teacher, and ten years as a school principal. I mostly taught in high schools when I was in the classroom, and I loved it. During my administrative life, I managed two K-8 schools for seven years and a high school for three years. I enjoy doing hands-on activities, projects, science fairs, and other science-related events.
I have been married to my lovely wife for 17 years, and we have two children. Our daughter is a junior in high school, and our son is in 7th grade. I love watching soccer, seeing new places, and spending time with family and friends.
I am looking forward to having a great year with you.

lenettaLenette Hernandez - Upper Campus

After graduating from Florida International University’s College of Arts and Sciences, I earned my professional teaching certificate and became an educator in 2000. Since then, I have taught language arts at both the middle school and high school levels as well as elective classes such as Public Speaking and Journalism.

In addition to my role as an educator, I have participated in multiple collaborations including school improvement committees, reaccreditation teams, curriculum design groups, and lead teacher within the English department.
During the ten years I spent at my previous school, my status as a veteran educator enabled me to guide new teachers through the joys and challenges of the profession as well as build camaraderie amongst our colleagues and the students we served.

I joined GREEN Charter in 2015 when my family and I decided to relocate to South Carolina. After four years as an ELA teacher, I transferred out of the classroom and joined the administrative team at the upper school.
